How to manage your kids’ summer vacation?
If you are like all moms, you are feeling a bit anxious about summer vacation. A kid out of school is not an easy thing to deal with, especially if you are a 9-to-5 working mom. You must be dreading all the things you need to juggle at the same time. The good news is, you are not alone in this endeavor, and most of the moms share the same feelings.

What are your plans for your kid’s summer vacation: summer camp, family vacation or weekends at grandmas...? Whatever you decide, you need to have plans set beforehand. Kids and adults alike thrive on routine. Knowing what to expect is very important for a young child. Breaking the routine, when school is over, is not easy. A well-planned transition will make your and your child’s life much easier.

If this is your child’s first time going to day camp, you need to plan ahead. This is also applicable to older children as well. About two weeks before the beginning of summer camp, start rehearsing with your child what is it he or she is going to do there. Knowing what to expect removes a lot of the fear of the unknown.

Do not make the mistake of not including any summer homework in your child’s summer vacation. Homework should still be a part of the summer break. You do not want to have to struggle with another hard transition when your child goes back to school in the fall. Having to do homework keeps the brain busy, this is a good thing.
